basic-regulator
Commercial Pressurizer Regulator, Basic

This is our latest variant of the commercial regulator, with with a rugged brass body and no pressure gauge. The regulator mechanism of this variant is of the piston type. It is equally capable to the chrome regulator we use on the Commercial Pressurizer Pro Model, but at a lower price.

Gauge or No Gauge?

The pressure gauge on a CO2 regulator arguably serves no useful purpose, and is delicate and prone to damage. Here’s a quick physics explanation for why the gauge is of limited value.

CO2 tanks contain liquefied CO2. As long as there is even one drop of liquid CO2 left in the tank, the gauge will read approximately 850 PSI at room temperature. The moment the last drop of liquid CO2 evaporates into the headspace of the tank, the gauge pressure quickly drops to zero. So, the gauge reads “full” until essentially the moment the tank is empty. This would be like having a gas gauge in your car that always read full until the car ran out of gas—not very helpful. So we have done away with the gauge on the brass version of the regulator, which makes it more rugged and less expensive.
