This is the original regulator that ships with the FIZZIQ system, with a quick-disconnect fitting for the gas hose to the FIZZIQ bottling machine. This is a medical-quality regulator with a preset, tamper-proof pressure setting for safety, and a gauge that shows the tank pressure. The regulator mechanism is of the diaphram type. We also have another variant with with a brass body and no gauge, with regulator mechanism of the piston type. It is equally capable, but at a lower price. Both have a quick disconnect to attach to the gas-in hose of the FIZZIQ machine.
Gauge or No Gauge?
The pressure gauge on a CO2 regulator arguably serves no useful purpose in this context, and is delicate and prone to damage. Here’s a quick physics explanation for why the gauge is of limited value. CO2 tanks contain liquefied CO2. As long as there is even one drop of liquid CO2 left in the tank, the gauge will read approximately 850 PSI at room temperature. The moment the last drop of liquid CO2 evaporates into the headspace of the tank, the gauge pressure quickly drops to zero. So, the gauge reads “full” until essentially the moment the tank is empty. This would be like having a gas gauge in your car that always read full until the car ran out of gas—not very helpful. So we have done away with the gauge on the brass version of the regulator, which makes it more rugged and less expensive.
For international customers: The included regulator is configured with a standard CGA-320 fitting for CO₂ cylinders in the United States. Customers outside the U.S. will need to replace the regulator stem and nut with a fitting compatible with local CO₂ standards. This is a straightforward mechanical substitution, and instructions are provided. For guidance on identifying the correct fitting in your region, please refer to our International CO₂ Cylinder Compatibility Guide. If you are unsure which fitting is required, please contact us before use.
